Another Update

Well,
So far, the three tests (CAT scan, EEG and HOLTER monitor) all came back normal.
So Wednesday I have another appointment to see where to go from here. Dr. Mulder had said we'd look into stress related causes, so maybe that's what's next on the list...

Whatever happens I'm totally ok with it...I just wanna KNOW! Half the battle is knowing...that's so true!

Doctor Visits

Well, here it is. I've decided to try to get this out so if anyone has questions about what's up, I shall refer them to this wonderful blog.
For a few years now I've been having what I would call "dizzy spells" (my mom calls them episodes). Ever since about my 11th grade in high school, every couple of months I would get a dizzy spell. Now, to define this such dizzy spell, I will have to put it into 2 different catagories. 1 - lesser and 2 - greater. The lesser spells go like this. I feel a weird feeling in my head and notice my vision gets quite blurry, I reach for something to stable myself or I sit down if I am able. My vision gets so bad that I can only make out shapes and if I move my head at all, it makes the dizzy feeling worse so I just close my eyes for the next few moments until it passes. After my vision clears and I can stand up fine, I get this extreme headache that makes it hard to even concentrate on anything. The greater spells (not because they're better, but because they're more severre) start the same way but my vision goes completely black and I have on more than one occasion, lost consciousness. I have been lucky that I can tell when they're coming on so I get myself to a safe position.
Since they had only been happening once every couple of months or so, it wasn't much of a concern. But about a month ago, I had one Thursday at work. Because of the killer headache, I went home for the afternoon and later that evening I had another one. I stayed home the next day from work but returned Saturday to get some things done. Sunday was going fine until right before I was going to make myself something to eat. I was headed to the kitchen when one came and I lost consciousness. This scared me quite a bit so Monday morning came and I called for a visit to the doctor.
My mom went with me and I had some tests taken to see if it was possibly my diet or kidneys or something causing these spells. Nothing showed up and they've continued getting more frequent. Last Thursday, I went to the hospital after a sleep deprived night for 3 tests. The first was an EEG where they glued wires to my head and I had to make myself hyperventilate for a few minutes and then I got to sleep the rest of the test (thankfully). That test was to see if these spells are actually seizures. My next test was a CAT/brain scan. I got a call yesterday to say nothing showed up on that test so thankfully it's not a tumor or mass on my brain. The final thing at the hospital was a Holter Monitor fitting. It was a take - home heart monitor that I had to wear for 48 hours and keep a journal of my activities and symptoms. I have not gotten the results of either the EEG or the Holter Monitor yet but when I do, I will try to keep this thing updated!

Well, there it is. In a nutshell. My medical history as of late. I'll keep you updated as I am updated.
